Every creation here at Sophia’s Cake Boutique is custom tailored from the bespoke design process, through to the professional finish of your chosen design. Our prices reflect the personal service and premium finish we offer to each of our discerning clients.
The following are starting prices of a few variations to a round tiered cake and refer to a plain iced cake that is finished in fondant.
The price of each creation will vary greatly depending on the intricacy of the finished design, the size and flavour so please contact us to discuss options to suit your requirements.
Fondant Wedding Cakes
Standard 2 tier wedding cake (6″/8″) – from £375 and serves up to 68 guest portions
Small 3 tier wedding cake (4″/6″/8″) – from* £450 and serves up to 78 guest portions
Standard 3 tier wedding cake (5″/7″/9″) – from* £550 and serves up to 94 guest portions
Small 4 tier wedding cake (4″/6″/8″/10″) – from* £750 and serves up to 148 guest portions
5 tier wedding cake (4″/6″/8″/10″/12″) – from* £900 and serves up to 244 guest portions

The guide below shows approximate servings for more variations of tiered wedding cake.
Finger portions are classed as 1″ x 1″ x depth and dessert portions are 1″ x 2″ x depth (your choice of cake depth may depend on your design). All our cakes are around 6″ deep which lends elegance and height to your cake. An extended or double height tier can count as one and a half to two tiers.

Celebration cakes start from £65 for a 7″ round buttercream finished cake (£80 for fondant finish) and vary depending on the complexity or extent of design and decor required.

Once you have finalised the design details we will provide you with a quotation. Quotations are valid for 28 days and are only secured by receipt of deposit. Bookings are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. We, therefore, recommend placing your order as early as possible. Unfortunately, dates cannot be “pencilled” in or reserved without receipt of a deposit.
You can reserve your date with a £100 non-refundable deposit, this means you are then firmly booked in our diary and can carry on with the rest of your wedding plans. When you’re happy to proceed we will send you an invoice detailing total cost minus any deposit paid. Payment is accepted by bank transfer or PayPal. The balance of your order becomes due 28 days prior to your wedding day.
Celebration cakes carry a 50% deposit with the final 50% payable a week before collection, short notice orders of two weeks or less are payable in full upon ordering.
Fake or “dummy tiers” can be incorporated into your cake to make a bigger impact on your wedding day, particularly if you want the impact of a large, tall cake but are having a smaller more intimate wedding. Fake tiers are made out of polystyrene and iced in the same way as the other tiers.
As there are many available configurations of cakes and dummy cakes, the price will vary greatly, therefore please contact us for a quote.
Cake tasting consultations are by appointment and are held four times a year to fit between current wedding bookings. Consultations are for a maximum of two people. In some circumstances it may be impossible for you to attend a tasting consultation so we are happy to mail tasting samples to your chosen address, subject to availability.
Samples will consist of a minimum of 4 flavours selected by us which are dispatched to your chosen address by courier delivery.
A tasting consultation or sample box are subject to a £25.00 fee.
Design and style consultation are more flexible and can be conducted over email, a coffee, or over the phone at a time convenient to us both. To help create the perfect cake for you, it would be really helpful if you have or know some of the following information when arranging a consultation with us:
• The date and venue of your wedding
• The approximate number of guests
• The colour or theme of your wedding, floral detail, wedding invite, magazine clippings, or even dress and ribbon samples for inspiration to assist us in designing the perfect cake.
Tasting and consultation are not currently offered for celebration cakes.
Cupcakes are a great idea for all your guests to help themselves to an individual treat, as a wedding favour or maybe just for your top table. Cupcakes to match your cake design add a lovely vintage feel to the overall look of your cake table. These can be buttercream or fondant finished, please check out our cupcake gallery for examples of both. We also have a selection cupcake display items such as china teacups, saucers, cupcake stands and glassware available to hire to display your pretty cupcakes on.
Cupcakes are of a generous muffin size, simple swirl topped cupcakes start from £2.50 each, fondant designs start from £4.50 each. Both styles have a minimum order of 12.
Our handcrafted cookies make ideal wedding favours and can be designed to compliment your cake, cupcakes or wedding theme perfectly. They can be personalised with your initials or adorn your dessert table beautifully. All come individually wrapped and finished with a matching satin ribbon.
Cookies start at £2.75 to £3.50 each depending on the extent of customisation and design and have a minimum order of 12.
Please feel free contact us with regard to our availability, however, we would usually recommend a minimum of six months from the date of your occasion to place an order. As we only work on one commission per week, the more notice you give the greater chance you have of securing a date in our diary, particularly for events during wedding season which are taken quickly.
Depending on our schedule and the design of your cake, we may be able to accept orders at shorter notice. For orders with less than 6 week notice, full payment is required on confirmation and is non-refundable. Payment for short notice orders can be made my bank transfer or cash.
Tiered wedding cakes can be very heavy and fragile, therefore we strongly recommend our delivery set/up option. We deliver throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Stacked cakes with sugar flowers are very fragile and it is important that they are transported and handled correctly. We will deliver your cake on the day of your wedding prior to the start of your reception and ensure that it is displayed correctly and safely.
Delivery and set up charges are based on 45p per mile return journey or a minimum of £20 whichever is the greatest.
We ask that you make arrangements with your venue for the location and display of your cake. Please ensure that the display location is level, stable and strong enough to hold your cake. We take photographs of the cake prior to departure of the venue to verify that the cake has been set up and left in good condition.
Your wedding cake may also be collected from our location in Sheffield the day prior to or the morning of your wedding. If the cake is collected, we cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur after the cake has left our kitchen.
Cakes that are collected will be boxed up for transportation. A signature is required upon collection confirming that you have receive the cake in a good condition.
Celebration cakes are collection only.
Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items, please ensure that these are removed by the caterer/guest before consumption. E.g. support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon, brooches or wired sugar flowers.
If you would like to have your cake decorated with fresh flowers we recommend that you order these from your florist for continuity. We will be delighted to liaise with you and your florist to decide on which flowers are most suitable and on their placement. We are happy to place pre-arranged flowers on your cake on delivery but please ensure you have ordered these in advance.
Please note, it is important to ensure that flowers that are not suitable for consumption do not come into direct contact with the cake itself. We cannot be liable for any contamination to your wedding cake that may arise from the misuse of fresh flowers.
Cake stands can be the perfect finishing touch to any of our beautiful cakes. We have a large selection of cake stands available for hire with any cake ordered from us. Many are displayed in our galleries.
Cake stands can be hired for £15 per stand plus a £30-£70 security bond which will be refunded once the stand is returned to us undamaged within 3 working days after your event.
The bond amount will depend on the particular stand that is hired. Some of our stands are sourced from America and will have a higher bond as they will cost a lot more to replace. Late return of a stand can incur a penalty charge. Similarly, if stands are not returned or returned damaged, your deposit is surrendered.

Where possible, we will accommodate any changes you wish to make to your order. As wedding cakes require longer lead-times we ask that changes are made no less than 4 weeks prior to completion.
We therefore advise that you check your order carefully and let us know within 7 days whether changes are needed. Your cake is very important to us and should you require any alterations after that period we will endeavour to do our best to accommodate them. If the preparatory work on your cake has already commenced, or your alterations mean additional work is required, Sophia’s Cake Boutique reserves the right to increase the quoted fee accordingly.

Please note that the confirmation deposit is non-refundable. Your cake booking is reserved solely for you and certain components for your cake(s) may be ordered and/or made months in advance.
Any specially ordered items and work already undertaken in accordance with your order is chargeable. All cancellations must be made by email to our address on the contact us page. The following condition is implemented when an order is cancelled:
For wedding cake orders cancelled within 4 weeks of the completion date, the full balance will be charged. Celebration cakes cancelled within a week of completion carries the same charge.
We cannot guarantee that our cakes have not come into contact with substances that may cause an allergic reaction i.e. nuts. Sophia’s Cake Boutique cakes all contain butter, gluten (wheat) and eggs and are made in an environment that sometimes handles nuts. We ask that you inform all parties consuming our cakes of the aforementioned.
We cannot guarantee no cross contamination due to the nature of production. Sophia’s Cake Boutique therefore does not accept liability of any allergic reactions from consuming our products.
We currently do not offer egg or dairy free cakes.
